Technology & Profiling
Technologies such as CCTV & X-Ray machines can help us identify objects. However, the determination and analysis required to identify them as suspicion indicators and relate them to a possible AMO can only be handled by a human.
In order to illustrate this, let’s take the example of a man returning from a supposed Surfing Holiday in Brazil with a body board in his luggage.
In this case the screener is able to detect a body board in the passenger’s bag using an x-ray machine.
However, only a person can identify through observation the suspicion indicator that the passenger is completely pale and therefore does not fit the profile of someone who has just spent the last week on the beach and the potential AMO that the passenger may be concealing a threat or drugs within the body board.
